Press release: The Big Ask - South Tyneside Friends of the EarthSouth Tyneside Friends of the Earth will be in King Street, South Shields, on Saturday 4th June between 10.00am and 12 midday to tell everyone about The Big Ask and tackling climate change.Bryan Atkinson, South Tyneside FOE spokesperson said: "Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing us. Despite political noises being made about the dangers of climate change, nothing concrete is happening to reduce the UK's carbon dioxide emissions. Indeed, since 1997 the UK's emissions have increased. "This needs to be resolved with positive action, so Friends of the Earth is backing the Climate Change Bill, which will ensure that the government devises realistic measures to achieve a year on year reduction in the UK's carbon dioxide emissions. "Jarrow MP Stephen Hepburn has already signed up to an Early Day Motion supporting the bill. Unfortunately, South Shields MP David Miliband is yet to back the bill. Hopefully he sees the great risk that climate change poses to communities all over the UK and will pledge his support to the motion. "To take part in The Big Ask, and help tackle climate change simply come along and see us on Saturday morning, or go to The Big Ask website, www.thebigask.com." Contactsemail: stfoe@negg.orgNotes1.
