Tyne and Wear Passenger Transport Authority (TWPTA) has proposed to build a second road tunnel under the Tyne at Jarrow, the location of the existing road tunnel.

As one of the member organisations of the Tyne Crossings Alliance, South Tyneside FoE have been part of the campaign against the construction of the tunnel, instead favouring investment in sensible public transport alternatives for crossing the Tyne.

 

 

Road berks

It seems odd that a body meant to promote and manage public transport in Tyne and Wear is so zealous in promoting a road building project which will encourage more users off public transport and into cars.

Are they really as dim as Tommy?
